Yesterday was a long and interesting day. We were up at 3:00 AM to get ourselves out the door and on our way. The car service dropped us at the airport curb right on time and we began our trip. The first part of the trip went pretty smoothly and I have decided that all airlines should have to send their employees to a mandatory training at Hawaiian Airlines so they can learn how to treat customers! Aside from the technical glitch with the in-flight movie, once again the service on Hawaiian Air rocked!

My favorite part of the flight was when I said to Brendan "where did that cute little boy go?" and he thought I was talking about the preschooler sitting in the seat in front of him. When I said "no not him, the flight attendant" I honestly thought my 17 yr old was going to die. He made a point to tell me the flight attendant was maybe 4 years older than he is and that I'm a married woman. LOL Apparently turning 40 next week has turned me into a cougar raawwrr =)

The second flight was delayed, bumpy and not so much fun but we survived and landed on Kauai with no problems. We were greeted with torrential rain but I love rain so that didn't exactly ruin my day but I wasn't expecting what was to come later. We got our rental car after a little bit of an issue and then we found our way to the grocery store to stock up. I don't think I will ever get over my sticker shock with Hawaiian prices no matter how many times we come here.

Eventually we were ready to head up to the far north shore to our timeshare. By then it was dark and the rain never did stop. We were winding our way up the coast and the further we went the more debris there was in the road and literally falling out of the sky. Our rental car actually got damaged when a large and extremely heavy branch fell on top of us! There were washed out roads, closures and mayhem on the road. We actually ended up with a police escort so we could get to our condo. It was a pretty interesting ride I must say but we finally made it!

We got unloaded and situated for the night and when all was said and done we (me and Charley) had been up a straight 22 hours (don't know why but we couldn't nap on the plane to save our lives). The view from our 3 different balconies is gorgeous no matter which way you turn and I swear Charley has already taken over 100 pictures. We have been listening to the crazy wild roosters crow for about 5 hours now and watching them run around all over the place and the doves, sparrows and cardinals have decided Charley rules because he shares his food. We have - and I'm not exagerrating at all - 28 birds on our balcony stealing our food and literally landing on us taking food from our hands.

This morning we are adjusting to the time change since HI is 3 hours behind AZ time and just kind of settling in. Brendan is going crazy with boredom and wants to go, go, go but we just want to relax a bit for now. It's paradise!

You know me, I need more details--did you take the insurance on the rental car? How did the police get invovled for the escort?

Can we get some photos of the view?
